20-03-2011: Album Nils Frahm & Anne Müller - 7 Fingers

Perfect Sunday-evening album and by far the best thing i've discovered this weekend! Check out the entire album here on VPRO Luisterpaal.

20-03-2011: Vessels - Helioscope

Vessels is a British rockband that is about to release their new album, no date is given on the website, but since they are calling it a March-release, it'll undoubtfully hit the shelves within the next 11 days. It's some sort of suspense-rock that moves all over the scale & really keeps me focussed on the music. I've been hearing about 12 different albums the last 48 hours (incl the new Strokes) and this is the only that grabbed my attention right away & easily kept my ears close to the stereo..

Listen the whole album here @ the VPRO Luisterpaal.

19-03-2011: The Antlers - Burst Apart (live)

Two weeks ago i shared Wake by The Antlers with you, and yesterday i've found an even greater piece of music from this amazing band. Their next album is called 'Burst Apart' and will be released in May of this year, however they've played the entire album from start to finish this week at a SXSW-show. and off course NPR has the whole show for us to listen.. The Antlers make you wish you were there, because this sounds sóóó good! The only problem they'll have now, is that the album is gonna be compared with this show, and i know for a fact, that this could lead to disappointments..

Click here to listen to the full album played live!

18-03-2011: Cults - Go Outside

Cults have signed a record deal for their debut album after releasing this 1st single 'Go Outside'. And they have announced that this debut album will be in stores at May 30th. These 3 songs sound really nice, so i''ll be sure to check that album out when it's hits the stores in May.

16-03-2011: R.I.P. Nate Dogg

LONG BEACH - Nathaniel D. Hale, known in the music industry as Nate Dogg, died Tuesday, his family announced Tuesday.
The hip-hop star, born and reared in Long Beach, Calif. was 41. Cause of death was not announced. However, Hale had been in fragile health and constant care since suffering two strokes, one in 2007 and another in 2008. Hale's near monotone crooning anchored some of rap's most seminal songs and helped define the sound of West coast hip-hop.

16-03-2011: Burial, Four Tet, & Thom Yorke – Ego & Mirror

Thom Yorke teamed up with Burial & Four Tet for a mini-EP containing 2 songs; 'Ego' & 'Mirror'. They were 1st played last night on a British radiostation and although expectations around the globe were skyhigh, mine weren't. Thom Yorke's solo-album aswell as the latest Radiohead-album didn't do it for me (shitloads of crap coming my way now, i can feel it..), but this project with Burial & Four Tet works great. These are 2 very cool, dreamy songs that fit Yorke's voice perfectly. The music has a certain tension to it & these are songs i can listen to over and over again.. Official release is next Monday via Bleep.

Ego

Mirror

15-03-2011: Francois Peglau - The Imminent Failure of Francois Peglau

Just discovered this album Sunday evening, but already i can't get enough of it. Francois Peglau is a British singer with a big heart for Beatles-music if you ask me. His songs have a huge Beatles-aura around it, without that being a bad thing. And that's a pretty impressive achievement for a young musician. As the album advances the name 'Eels' also popped into my head, it's all in the little details Eels uses a lot aswell.. And final track 'Sundays Ukulele Song' could also be titled 'Summer Ukulele Song' cuz i feel like drinking Corona's on the beach when i hear this.. A fine album, very much worth checking out. Visit his Bandcamp-page to download 2 free songs or get the whole album for just a few bucks.

15-03-2011: The Dø - Both Ways Open Jaws

The New album by The Dø is here. Don't talk, just listen, one more thing though.. it's even better than the last!!!
Listen here!

15-03-2011: Mother Mother - Eureka

Finally! Tuesday March 15th is here! The day Mother Mother release their 3rd album 'Eureka'. So far I've only heard The Stand, but that's 1 of the best songs i've discovered this year, so YEAH! i was really looking forward to this! The player below streamed the album untill it's release, so be quick! Cuz somewhere today (when Canada wakes up, i presume) the player will probably be taken down and you're left with the only right thing to do; Get your arse to a store and buy this fantastic album!
*edit: i've removed the player and added 2 songs of the album*

14-03-2011: Lykki Li - I Know Places (live on the Moon)

Breathtaking.

14-03-2011: Robin Pecknold Acoustic

Fleet Foxes-frontman Robin Pecknold can't wait to see their new album be released in May, so to keep himself from being bored he released 3 free tracks last week. They're not Fleet Foxes-songs; it's just him, an acoustic guitar and a friend. Oh, and on I'm Losing Myself we even hear Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste. Nice & relaxing Monday Morning start of the week. "Mellow Jams", he called it himself, the stream will be gone somewhere soon, but you can download it here..
