19-06-2011: Big Scary - Mix Tape

Almost a month ago i posted Big Scary's track Autumn, which was a great song from their 2010 EP-collection. At the time the most recent news was that they were working on their 1st studio album, but now they have released their 1st single for it: Mix Tape. Hear it here and get it @ their bandcamp-page or via iTunes.

16-06-2011: White Mystery - Blood & Venom

This has got to be one of the best things i've heard this month. White Mystery is rocking it's ass off and i'm loving it. This 2nd album of the red-haired brother & sister-duo from Chicago was released in April of this year and although i'm hearing it for the 1st time just now i'm really gonna be listening to it a lot in the (near) future. Within a few days this will have found it's way to my Favourites of 2011-list. Fantastic album!

15-06-2011: EP Lotte Kestner - Extra Covers EP

Lotte Kestner has been mentioned earlier this year with her fine album China Mountain B-sides, which was released back in 2009. Two weeks ago she released a new EP, called Extra Covers, which (you guessed it) contains a collection of covers, 6 in total. The only song i reckonized was Beyonce's Halo, which is a daring choice, but she gets away with it. Another fine track is Black Metallic, which apparantly was originally done by Catherine Wheel, an early 90s rockband. I'm almost drifting off there in 90s melancholie, which is also a little bit the issue with this EP. I like Lotte Kestner, she has a beautiful voice and is capable of singing little masterpieces, but apart from the 2 songs i've mentioned she doesn't really do that on this EP. For a total listening experience i prefer China Mountain B-sides, but Halo and Black Metallic deserve some airtime, cuz they're both a great showcase for Lotte Kestner's talent.

15-06-2011: Kanye West - Mama's Boyfriend (update)

My favourite album of last year was Kanye's masterpiece My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and before it was released 'Mama's Boyfriend', was one of the songs Kanye performed a few times, but eventually it didn't make it to the album. It's released now & it sounds really good. I can see why it didn't make it on the album, because it's a bit more oldschool. It would've fitted good in the older Kanye-albums (College Dropout), but nevertheless this is just a really nice summeresque oldschool Kanye-track.

A few days after i posted this, i read the following statement by Universal Music (Kanye's record company) on another blog, apparantly it's fake..:
The version of the Kanye West recording "Mama's Boy" that arrived on blog sites earlier this week is entirely bogus and unsanctioned, and violates the artist's creative intentions. As is often the unfortunate case, an unknown party or parties got a hold of Kanye West's vocal track and added their own soundbed to it, effectively and falsely releasing it as a Kanye West track from the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy sessions. The result in no way resembles the final song Kanye West intended his fans to hear, and he is deeply disappointed that one of the most personal, meaningful and special songs he has ever written would reach people in this way. Needless to say, measures are being taken to identify and prosecute the persons responsible for leaking this material."

14-06-2011: Lil Wayne - Dear Anne

Another fine hiphop-track, this time it's Lil Wayne with a sequel to Eminem's brilliant Stan. Although Lil Wayne is releasing a new album somewhere soon, this track is supposed not to be on it. Strange, because it's really good..

14-06-2011: Nas - Nasty

New track by Nas, finally. And it's good as fuck!

13-06-2011: Monday Morning Kick-Off [MM-KO]Modern Tapes - Caroline

Not a real Monday due to some silly Christian-thing, but since i'm at work today i might aswell make it a regular Monday and with that a regular Monday Morning Kick-Off. This time with Caroline by Modern Tapes, whose debut EP has been released last week, which you can stream (and download for free) here. Great track to start the week off with, have a good one!

12-06-2011: EP FOE - Hot New Trash EP

Heard the Hot New Trash EP by FOE almost 2 months ago just when it was released and i rocked away to it during the nighttime a few nights in a row back then, cuz it's a good little EP for midnight alcohol sessions.. Eventually ordered myself the good old cassette tape version with cassetteplayer handpainted by FOE.. (!!) and it rocks. The name of this EP fits the music, cuz it's hot trash and i'm loving it! Even on a sober Sunday afternoon it blows up the speakers in the best way possible!

12-06-2011: Another - Feels Good

It is extremely hard to find something on a band called Another, try googling this, adding things like 'music', 'band' or the song title doesn't make it any easier. So after some useless searching i'm sorry to inform you that i don't have any data on this band. Not even a website or myspace-page.. Is that a bad thing? Well, yes.. Kind of.. Because this is a fine track and i can imagine you would like to hear more, which is hard if it's impossible to find anything.. So if anyone out there does know this band & reads this, please sent me an email, so i can edit this post. For now, enjoy a great tune on a Sunday morning..

11-06-2011: Azari & III - Reckless With Your Love

This is about 2 years old & not really spectaculair, but i've recently discovered it and simply can't get enough of it. Especially on a Saturday off it's a great track to get in the mood for 2 days of spending time with family and friends, having a drink, hearing some fine tunes & just enjoying my arse off..

09-06-2011: Album Jalin Roze - The Brilliance

Although i'm a fan of hiphop-music, it's not easy to discover the great new things that are undoubtfully out there. I spend too much time listening to hiphop-artists that are not doing anything new or special. So far the only new album i've been listening to was Aziz' Leave Me Az Iz, everything else is older, sometimes from a previous millenium.. Untill now!
Jalin Roze's The Brilliance suits the name, just because it's a really good hiphop-album. From the 1st second throughout the entire album it has me focussed on the nice beats and sharp lyrics. Which (thank god) are not all about bitches, hoes, cars, rims and money.. Finally another decent hiphop-album to help me through the Summer (somehow, i link hiphop to Summertime, it might be a Fresh Prince/Jazzy Jeff-thing, who knows..?). It is hard to believe, but you can download Jalin Roze's album for free through his bandcamp and that is a well-worth download. I suggest you'd even try to send him some money, cuz he's earned it..!
